Financial - Financial Interface & Cost Accounting
AIMS/ERP does not have General Ledger, Accounts Payable, or Fixed
Asset accounting functions. So all AIMS Software, Inc. customer
had separate financial systems for these functions. Except for AP,
the primary use of a GL system is monthly financial statement
generation.
However, the AIMS/ERP cost accounting functions and a GL interface
module to make the periodic updating of the General Ledger system a
simple, straightforward process.
Cost Accounting functions - AIMS/ERP provides:
- Vendor services as a direct cost element - similar to Labor
costs - Cost variances are driven from services PO data, similar to
how work order labor data provides actual costs for direct labor
variances in a standard cost system.
- Direct Labor as a direct cost element - standard feature with
AIMS/ERP, as with most ERP system.
- Multiple indirect cost elements - each calculated from
allocation rates & basis values.
- Routing cost data uses the Named Route data - with a major
reduction in the work to maintain this often redundant data.
In the initial AIMS/ERP installation the routing data for all
products - for a $40 mil/yr operation - were setup in 4 hours, not
six months.
- Cost Rollup - Level by level, cost element by costs element.
- Standard cost development & phase in.
- Actual material cost data - maintained concurrently using
weighted moving average calculations.
- Actual labor costs - from actual labor reported to Work Orders.
- Work In Process Material Net Costs - useful in managing off-site
inventory.
Cycle Counting & Physical Inventory integration -
AIMS/ERP has a detailed, robust, fully featured cycle counting and
physical inventory sub-system. It is fully integrated to cost
functions, so the various kinds of changes in inventory can be properly
booked to the GL.
General Ledger Interface - since AIMS/ERP does not
have its own GL, a detailed family of cost reports that provide the
basis for month-end journal entries is provided.
A process was designed, but not developed, that developed the actual
journal entries themsevles, with complete traceability of costs data in
both directions - from the detailed AIMS/ERP data to the journal entry,
and from the GL journal entry back to its source data.
Other functions - AIMS / ERP includes a number of
additional cost/financial related functions - including:
- Imported product source & cost reporting
- Country of Origin Bill of Material reporting
- Inventory Cost Audit data download.
- Physical Inventory Tag Costing - data download
- Ranked Projected Purchased Inventory Reporting - calculates the
cost of projected inventory levels - from MRP data; an AIMS/ERP
unique capability.
- Foreign Current currency support for purchase orders.
